About the Director
Aimee Geddes, (some might remember her as Aimee Pettegrew) has been training and performing for 15 years. She began her love for music in a group similar to the classes offered at Breakthrough Studios, and her passion for music and teaching has grown over the years. She has taught private voice lessons for 6 years and loves helping students find their voice and develop stage presence and self esteem. After several years of contemplation, she then decided to expand to a class setting where skills more than vocal technique and solo singing could be learned and perfected. Aimee loves to dance as well as sing and is very excited to offer classes through her successful music studio.
Since her beginnings in show choirs, Aimee has gone on to train with some of Utah’s best voice instructors. She has taken teaching classes from Dean Kaelin, (American Idol runner-up David Archuleta’s coach), and studied for years with Laurie Vandegrift, an associate teacher of Dean. She has also studied on the opposite end of the spectrum with recording artist and acclaimed opera singer George Dyer, with whom she studied for quite some time. Other teachers include Evelyn Harris of the Utah Opera and Weber State University music program, Ken Plain vocal director for Lagoon entertainment, and Jim Christian-Director of the musical theater program at Weber State University who has many directing and writing credits to his name as well.
Aimee went to Weber State University on a performing arts scholarship where she studied musical theater for two years. She graduated in 2006 with a bachelor of arts in Communication where she anchored the Weber State News program. She had the opportunity to live and work in Alaska for a summer as a performer in the Days of ’98 show where she was one of three main female characters. She has performed in many community theater and academic programs as well at Rogers Memorial theater, Hale Center Theater and Kaysville City, Davis High School and Weber State University. She was featured as “Maiden Harriet” in the Liken the Scriptures classic, “Esther and the King.” She has excelled in singing competitions to the top portion of talent and was one of 6 artists selected to open a concert for Josh Gracin (4th place on American Idol season 2). She is currently on Television as the “Hertz Car Sales” girl for their commercial. For the summer of 2009 She has been invited to perform a concert for Cherry Hill’s, Concerts on the Hill, and has also been invited to perform at the AM JAM Musician Showcase at Cedar Haven Resort, as well as CastPartySLC, in Downtown Salt Lake City. She has been a hired performer for Mount Ogden Rehabilitation Center (nursing home) for the last 3 years and enjoys bringing something to people who have no way to experience the outside world unless it is brought to them. Aimee hopes that by her efforts she can use music to make the world a better place!
